The Concept

The Rocket® was created by Larry Schultz over 30 years ago in San Francisco after he spent seven years practising and studying Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga with Pattabhis Jois. He loved it so much that he wanted to make the practice accessible to every body and thus were born The Rocket® routines as practised in the It's Yoga system.

The Rocket® is rooted in the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga tradition, which is why the practice week always opens with the full primary series on Sunday to honour its origins. The week then unfolds in a wavelike rhythm until the celebratory Friday Rocket® 3 practice which combines all the poses explored during the week so that we can land on Saturday energised and rested to enjoy the day off :)

In this retreat I will guide you through the It's Yoga practice week which includes the full primary series, The Rocket® 1, 2 and 3, modified primary series and some yin.

The It's Yoga system believes in encouraging the practitioner to nurture function over form and inner guidance which is why all sequences offer modifications and the use of props to make the practice available to everyone as well as exploring our practice in the spirit of change. No body is the same and not everyday is the same.

This retreat is open to everyone regardless of their experience. An open mind and an open heart are the only requisites :)

In the words of Larry Schultz: "Relax and breathe and go with flow"

Your hosts

Raphaelle Romana

I am a E-RYT200  and E-RYT500 and an It's Yoga International teacher trainer with over 1000hrs of training in a diverse range of yoga styles: Hatha, Bikram yoga ,Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Yin and The Rocket®.

I started my practice with Vinyasa and, over the years that followed, I explored many paths in the practice of Yoga through asanas and anatomy, pranayama, meditation and the study of its philosophy. I have shared my knowledge in busy studios settings as well as smaller spaces, private classes, workshops, retreats and teacher trainings. I  strive to learn more; I love all forms of yoga and find that they all complement each other to help create harmony within and around me as well as the people around me.

I continuously look for new ways to learn through my practice, workshops and trainings; I believe constant training and practice is the key to being a giving, compassionate and enthusiastic teacher.

My classes have an emphasis on alignment and focus on breath, offering hands-on adjustments when needed, to provide a safe environment and to encourage students to steadily develop their practice by cultivating self-awareness and acceptance.

The practices

The asana practice will start Sunday morning with full primary series and Sunday evening I will offer a gentle yin and pranayama practice. In the evening the practices will be guided: Monday The Rocket® 1, Tuesday The Rocket® 2 modified, Wednesday The Rocket® 2, Thursday yin yoga and Friday The Rocket® 3. The morning practices will be follow the yogi style where I will silently share my practice. The silent practice is aimed at awakening the inner teacher within all of us but are all optional if you decide you would rather sleep :)

The Yoga Yurt

It’s a circular space containing a very special energy inside. It is nestled in the garden, surrounded by trees and the stunning presence of the volcano. At the entrance you will find a chill-out area were you can experience the peacefulness of the place after your practice.

Yogasana House

The house is nestled right under the volcano “El Calderon Hondo” in the surf village of Lajares in the north of Fuerteventura. The village (easy 15 min walk) offers a few restaurants, cafes, bars and shops, and on Saturdays it becomes a local market for arts and crafts. From the house you have direct access to running, trekking and mountain bike paths around the volcano.

The house is very spacious and modern, but still, it retains elements of classical Canarian building and every corner is dedicated to the well-being of our guests, including a beautiful green Patio garden with palm, banana trees and an herbal garden.

The swimming-pool is solar heated (temperature ranges from 21C in winter to 26C in summer).

Each room has a bathroom, private lounge área with a hammock, free wi-fi, and many of them with a kitchenette. Linens, towels (beach and bath), hairdryer and soaps are included. Washing machine is available.
