The Concept
This retreat will combine the dynamic energy of ashtanga vinyasa yoga (as taught by Larry Schultz, founder of Its Yoga) with the calming practice of yin yoga.
Over the period of seven days we will alternate ashtanga vinyasa yoga and yin yoga sequences to create balance and harmony physically, mentally and spiritually.
The yang part of the retreat will consist of the full primary series and modified primary series ( a shorter version of the full primary). I will guide both by offering variations and modifications (with the support of props welcome) to encourage change and exploration within the practice and the cultivation of function over form. The latter further explored during the yin sequences where the poses are held for longer period of time to invite the practitioner to listen attentively to the messages of the body, mind and spirit while letting go of the form to shift the focus to the sensations and the feelings deep within.
Your hosts
Raphaelle Romana
I am a E-RYT200 and E-RYT500 and an It's Yoga International teacher trainer with over 1000hrs of training in a diverse range of yoga styles: Hatha, Bikram yoga ,Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Yin and The Rocket®.
I started my practice with Vinyasa and, over the years that followed, I explored many paths in the practice of Yoga through asanas and anatomy, pranayama, meditation and the study of its philosophy. I have shared my knowledge in busy studios settings as well as smaller spaces, private classes, workshops, retreats and teacher trainings. I strive to learn more; I love all forms of yoga and find that they all complement each other to help create harmony within and around me as well as the people around me.
I continuously look for new ways to learn through my practice, workshops and trainings; I believe constant training and practice is the key to being a giving, compassionate and enthusiastic teacher.
My classes have an emphasis on alignment and focus on breath, offering hands-on adjustments when needed, to provide a safe environment and to encourage students to steadily develop their practice by cultivating self-awareness and acceptance.

The Yoga Yurt
It’s a circular space containing a very special energy inside. It is nestled in the garden, surrounded by trees and the stunning presence of the volcano. At the entrance you will find a chill-out area were you can experience the peacefulness of the place after your practice.
Yogasana House
The house is nestled right under the volcano “El Calderon Hondo” in the surf village of Lajares in the north of Fuerteventura. The village (easy 15 min walk) offers a few restaurants, cafes, bars and shops, and on Saturdays it becomes a local market for arts and crafts. From the house you have direct access to running, trekking and mountain bike paths around the volcano.
The house is very spacious and modern, but still, it retains elements of classical Canarian building and every corner is dedicated to the well-being of our guests, including a beautiful green Patio garden with palm, banana trees and an herbal garden.
The swimming-pool is solar heated (temperature ranges from 21C in winter to 26C in summer).
Each room has a bathroom, private lounge área with a hammock, free wi-fi, and many of them with a kitchenette. Linens, towels (beach and bath), hairdryer and soaps are included. Washing machine is available.
